Lakeside Family Session with the Hansens in Batavia, Ohio

In the midst of summer, I really wanted to do a gorgeous lakeside sunset session at some point. When Amber reached out to me and told me she wanted to use East Fork Lake as her location for her family shoot this year, I could NOT resist!! And absolutely loved making this happen for them.

I have been photographing the Hansens multiple times a year, every year, since 2016! I met her from one of her friends weddings and since then, not only has she become one of my longest standing clients, her and her entire family have become truly best friends with me and mine as well! Our kids play together, we’ve gone on a little getaway together, and in general just love seeing these guys whenever I can.

Because I have photographed them so many times now, I really wanted to do something different for them. Because all my families who I have been photographing for multiple years now, I really aim for uniqueness every single time. But especially so when a session could be #3 or #5 or even #10 with me.

This session was all about embracing the feeling of “togetherness”. I wanted to create the feeling of a summer day and them just enjoying time together on a Friday evening after work of the week was done. And so, they packed up a picnic, some of their favorite things, we met up at the lake, and this session just naturally unfolded.

I encouraged them to play in the water, put on some good music, and we all soaked up this amazing Ohio sunset and the warm rays of that summer sunshine together. This entire session didn’t even last longer than 45 minutes and because they just rolled with it all, we got some absolute timelessness. And so happy we could!

Amber, I love you and your family so much. Thank you for always supporting me and choosing me to be the documentarian of your guys family story. There’s little in this life that fulfills me more than the deep connections this job has given me.
